Boys & Girls Varsity/JV

Push your limits and redefine what it means to be a student-athlete by joining the most demanding sport in the district. At WBL, both boys and girls are invited to be part of an elite brotherhood and sisterhood—where team spirit, dedication, hard work, and leadership are valued both on and off the mat.

Our program is designed to foster excellence in every aspect of your life. We believe that personal growth comes first, and competitive success naturally follows. Becoming a WBL wrestler means embracing a path of resilience, discipline, and pride.

Program Overview:

Open to:

Boys: *9-12th Grade
Girls: 7-12th Grade
*7th-8th Graders may be promoted to high school competition levels upon coaches’ approval

 

Boys’ Junior Varsity: Open to boys developing their skills against JV and beginner opponents.

Boys’ Varsity: Varsity spots are earned through competitive wrestle-offs, where the top athletes will represent WBL.

Girls’ Varsity Program: All female wrestlers in our program will compete at the varsity level in girls-only divisions and events. (MSHSL recognizes all WBL girls wrestling as Varsity.)

Location:

  • Wrestling Room – WBL High School (Located downstairs, near the fieldhouse)

Key Dates:

  • Registration: Oct 14 – Nov 18
  • First Practice: Nov 18 (3:30 PM – 6:30 PM)
  • Season: Nov 18 – Mar 1

How to Get Started:

  1. Complete a Sports Physical – Required for participation.
  2. Attend Fall Training – Stay tuned for details on our website.
  3. Register Online – Starting Oct 14, visit the WBLAHS Activities Department’s website to sign up.
  4. Attend the Kick-Off Meeting – Nov 4 in the WBLAHS Wrestling Room

What You'll Need:

  • Wrestling Shoes
  • Practice Clothes (shorts and t-shirt)
  • Towel & Toiletries
  • Headgear

All other equipment will be provided as part of the program.

Registration is Open

Registration Info:

  • Registration Cost: For the 2025-26 season, the price for the wrestler's practice package (team shorts/shirt) is included in your registration total.

  • Financial Support: free and reduced program members can have the registration fee ($215) removed and will only have the team fee ($200) as the remaining cost. If that still presents an issue to families, please contact the WBLA Activities office:  651-444-6714
